Deepavali, also refer as Diwali, is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated around the world every year in early November, makes it an official holiday in Fiji, Guyana, India, Pakistan, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Trinidad and Malaysia.
Deepavali marks one of the major festivals of Hinduism as it spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. It is a very good festive to purify one's body.
One thing I love living in a multi-racial country Malaysia is that I get to celebrate several festivals in a year. Nonetheless, this time around on Deepavali 2016, all Malaysians will gather together to embrace the lights celebration!
In conjunction with Deepavali, PETRONAS has came out with a webfilm to urges us all that in light of the Deepavali celebration, Malaysians should respect each other’s differences and embrace similarities as the festival of light serves as a reminder to us to have compassion for others.
Judging may seem easier than finding the truth. Can Muniandy and his friend escape the misjudgement?
This is such a great short webfilm showing us that we shouldn't simply judge one person by their outlook before we try to even understand them a little bit.
Muniandy and his friend basically did nothing wrong but only trying to bring fun and joy to the aunty and even helped her to clean and clear up her gardens. Would you want to be in Muniandy situation and taking those discrimination eyesights when you're not even doing anything wrong?
In this purity festival of light, let's embrace together and let the light shines within us to continue respecting each other as both individuals and as Malaysians! The greater harmony can be achieved through greater understanding and compassion.
Wishing everyone has a great Deepavali!
