Shabu Garden Steamboat, Kuchai Lama.
11:20:00 PMMalaysian, we are in fact, quite in love with steamboat especially Chinese I would say. I guess this is mainly because most of the family will have steamboat during reunion dinner in Chinese New Year isn't it? However, I found out in recent years, there are numbers of family would rather go out to dine in a restaurant than preparing dinner at home, this is how lazy the people in the world getting to be. Buy and prepare, cook, setting and cleaning, it takes a lot of work to complete I know, but it's just once in year wouldn't it be nice to be gather all in your warmest home?
There are a lot of steamboat restaurant opening up in Malaysia, particularly in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor where I know the most. They are opening up with a very great deal buffet, EAT ALL YOU CAN! which is how they promote it. Despite of that, some restaurant still offering regular Ala carte order with better quality. Some times, I prefer to go for those Ala carte menu because I am the type of person that will eat for what I pay and generally you would see me stuffing myself with foods, especially MEATS LOL.Well, eat-all-you-can, that's what they say right? :D So in order to NOT end up with bloated stomach, Ala carte is much more better, you don't get to waste food as you only order what you can eat.
Shabu Garden Steamboat Restaurant indeed, offer Ala carte menu with quality food, this is why I love going there. If you are a member, you will get to enjoy 10% during weekday & 5% during weekend, Public Holidays & Eves. They have two branches in KL, one is located in Kuchai Lama and the other one in Cheras with operating hour from 12pm-12am.
In the menu, you get to choose 10 types of soup, Pork Bone, Chicken, Ginger Wine, Bakuteh, Kim Chi, Herbal, Miso, Tomyam, White Porridge & Pumpkin porridge. I've tried Herbal, Miso & Tomyam but many times I prefer to have Tomyam because I am a huge fan of Tomyam :D I can't live without spicy food! Miso is not bad, however herbal is a little not so deep in flavor as in those traditionally herbal soup which they cooked it for hours. Soup is charged with RM3 each.
Showing in the picture was the set for 2/3 person as the day I went with 2 friends. However, this set only gives 2 soup, so you might need to add on another soup. They have a few combo set, even offering 1 person combo set as well. The set that I order comes with assorted vege platter, meat sliced 20 pcs portion (Chicken/Beef/Pork/Lamb) with add on RM2 for Lamb, then selected meat balls where you can choose 4 out of 29 in the menu, and lastly with fried Mee Sua or Bee Hoon. The set itself cost RM49.80.
At night, you will see people queue-ing up outside for dinner if you pass by, you can skipped the queue if you go at lunch or earlier in the evening, you can even make reservation too. Normally if I go with only 1 friend, I usually order their special combo set for 1, they have it in Chicken or Pork or Beef or Lamb set at the price of RM31.80 for both Chicken and pork, RM32.80 for beef and RM33.80 for Lamb. I've captured some picture of the set where I ordered before, you could have it as a reference.
I feel good whenever I have steamboat, something hot & soupy yet chilling, okay I have no idea what I mean but.. chill..you know...just chill :)
