Following the cafe trend in Seoul, I found this cafe located in Mapo-gu which has a very special theme of 2D monochrome cartoon. By using flatline drawings all over the cafe, it gives an optical illusion which give you the impression of having suddenly switched from a 3D to a 2D world.
It could be inspired by the K-drama name "W", featuring characters that clash between two worlds - the real world and a fantasy world inside a webtoon. The 2D optical illusion intends to make customers feel as though they too have crossed dimensions into a comic book illustration.
If you're planning to visit this cafe, please be aware that the name of this cafe, YND 239-20 was the previous address and it has now move to the same mapo-gu neightbourhood, with it's new address of Yeonnam-dong 223-14. Daily operation from 11am-9pm.
