LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN ...

Beijing, Day 3 Suggested Itinerary.

12:16:00 PM

My Day 3 in Beijing literally cover 3 popular attractions - PanJiaYuan Market, Temple of Heaven and Yong He Temple.

I started my day again, early at 9am on my way to PanJiaYuan Market. I love visiting local market because every country has different culture in their market :) However, for PanJiaYuan market, I was a little disappointed with it as it was only selling mostly nothing but antique! I read on the reviews saying that it has some interesting things to see, well, perhaps, antique is just so not for me.

Panjiayuan market is free of charge. Open hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30am-6:00pm; Saturday and Sunday from 4:00am-6:00pm. Saturdays and Sundays are the only days when Panjiayuan market is really much of an attraction. On weekdays, it is open, but only a fraction of the shops and market stalls are open and selection is very limited.

Transportation :
Panjianyuan market is easily accessible by Metro. Travel east of the city center on the line 10 to Panjiayuan station. Get out from Exit B, walking left out of the station along the bridge for about 100 meters. You will walk through a small outdoor market area where vendors sell mostly beads and bracelets, before you reach Panjiayuan market entrance. The market is a fine walking destination from the metro stop.

I walk one round in the market for about 30 minutes and proceed to Temple of Earth by subway.

I was in hesitation whether to go Temple of Earth or Temple of Heaven, but if I were to visit 2 temples together it might takes a long time to complete and they are mostly the same thing. Thus, I search online and found out that Temple of Heaven is larger than the Earth, so I just go with the Heaven :)

Temple of Heaven is China's largest and most representative existing masterpiece among China's ancient sacrificial building.

Transportation :
By Subway,
- Subway Line 5: get off at Tiantan Dongmen Station, Leave from Exit A and you'll find the East Gate of the Park.

I spent about 2-3 hours walking around Temple of Heaven, and the next station I went was YongHe Temple.

YongHe Temple is really amazingly huge temple! I've been to quite a lot temples but YongHe Temple truly amaze me. With the layout and those statues in the temple, it worth a visit even if you're not a Buddhist!

Transportation :
By subway,
- Subway Line 2: get off at Yonghegong Station, get out of the station from Exit C (Southwest Exit), and walk south about 400 meters, then you'll find it on the east side of the road.
- Subway Line 5: get off at Yonghegong Station, and get out of the station from Exit C (Southeast Exit).
